On a different tack, I have now tried Moode r761, r750 & r671 images. Same issue - no ehternet or AP connection. I also tried current [whisper it!] Volumio... same issue! There must be a clue in that for a clever person.
Could you attach a monitor and keyboard to Rpi4?
Other things to try:
- Force AP-Mode by writing 'None' to SSID
- Disable DHCP and manualy assign an IP Adress.
