Firmware was from April 2021, the update took it to July 2021 (I think it said) - I chose the stable option. The Pi 4 & PSU are brand new from Pi Hut, so reputable. I bought last week after receiving a stock alert, so likely freash off the boat? One possibility is that QC corners might be being cut at the chip factories to meet demand, however.
