adding media from local storage

i cant find a way to manually add a location for my media files am i overlooking something?
local meaning the same drive the OS is starting from

Also,

after you connect an external usb disk, remember to do a library update ( m => Update Library, then wait until the spinner goes out and "loading library" popup appears for a few seconds...). Then you can access your tracks from either view (album, tag, folder, etc.)
