After a few failed tries I got USB tethering to work. I can use Moode as a UPNP renderer with BubbleUPNP on my phone. The problem is that the tethering instructions and procedure for my phone are like an alchemy manual with less interesting language. My phone requires making settings on 3 different screens in order to set up USB tethering. There are no instructions for ethernet tethering.
Now for the power supply. I'm hoping there's a 12 volt to 5 volt adapter that puts out 2.5 amps. Then I'll have the same thing I can get using a USB C dac dongle. Retirement inspires some busywork projects.
