My opinion on this is that there’s no point in developing a baroque tmpfs / ramfs / ramdisk / overlayFS (these aren’t the same, by the way) solution to what is in essence a (potential) hardware problem. There’s plenty of documentation including tutorials available on the InterWeb™ if you want to go the software route anyway.
