I guess I was vaguely aware of that but I was never cut off by the cap so never gave it a thought. Question in my mind now is, have they made a real technical change or are they just increasing public awareness of their on-going need for operational funds to keep the lights on.

Quote:ETA: I'd subscribe to their station but I already subscribe to a few other stations as well as Amazon Music HD and 4 or 5 streaming TV apps so I'm already hitting subscription fatigue :-0

I get that but I have a soft spot for small-time radio operations and their streaming equivalents. I had passed the FCC exam for my first-class Radiotelephone Operator license by the time I graduated from high school, ran my college radio station, yada yada yada. Folks like the Jazz Groove and Radio Paradise get my vote because they remind me of the dream we radio-heads had back in the day.

Regards,
Kent

Actually, they have been doing "pledge drives" for a number of years. Radio Paradise does something along those lines but it's way less formal as I recall, kinda like what Soma FM does. Also Jazz Groove, Radio Paradise and Soma FM have huge Global audiences that continue to provide enough regular donations to keep the music flowing. One of my monthly subscriptions is to Soma FM :-)
Enjoy the Music!
