Hello, my name is Vincent, I'm 46 and I live in the south of Lyon.
I've known Moode for quite a few years now, since my first mini PC purchase, a raspberry Pi with a hat hifiberry dac.
Being a bit of a software enthusiast, I initially tested all the softwares on the market that could run on this headless platform (Rune, Moode,volumio,picore,hifiberry OS ...etc), and my preference often went to Moode for its reliability, presentation and good musical performance.
However, 2 years ago, to upgrade my hardware configuration, I was tempted by the volumio primo. The hardware promise and initial tests were very good, and a good opportunity presented itself to me. Slightly naively, I thought I'd be able to run all the above-mentioned OSes, but I quickly realized that I was stuck with a contract and warranty with VolumioOS, which had just been upgraded to version 3.
So I'm not here to speak ill of Volumio, which does a fantastic job and sounds really good, but let's just say that having to restart my player every x hours, having to do without spotify and waiting for the Android app to respond quickly made me want to self-flagellate...
So rather than grumbling, I decided to get down to work, and started by repairing a plugin allowing logitech media server to run on the primo, learning to code a bit of javascript and bash, and adding a bit of code to run Cdrummond's Bliss plugin, which uses acoustic analysis to feed logitech's excellent "don't stop the music" plugin with similar sounding music . It works like a charm and gave a little community satisfaction. I've also developped a little plugin to activate crossfader for MPD (that is not part of volumio what a shame) but due to heavy mpd tweaking by volumio, this one doesn't work reliably.
However, not being satisfied by nature and having noticed a slight difference in behavior between volumio and LMS, I was a little nostalgic for MOode and I set out to run it on my Primo.
The quest was long and full of pitfalls because I didn't want to break my warranty by flashing the emmc memory which is quite poorly documented and seems blocked in writing. I therefore had to use and above all complete my knowledge of virtualization with Docker to end up succeeding in creating a functional script which allows the coexistence between volumio and Moode on the primo.
Today I want to take advantage of my moode + primo audio system which works quite well, I benefit from bit perfect playback, an "infinite playback" functionality and a very efficient Spotify connect among other things
I will also try to improve my script for more performance and look into what can be done to help the Moode community in terms of software improvements or new functionality, particularly regarding smart playlists. maybe I overestimate myself.
