[SOLVED] MPD Error

I have been running an RPI 2B for a number of years, outputting via the on board connector to a powered speaker or by a dongle to a bluetooth speaker without any problems.

I have recently added an IQaudIO Pi-digiamp+ to the PI to output to a pair of hifi speakers but am getting the error 'Failed to open "ALSA Default (ALSA)" etc. when I try to play a file. I have tried reflashing the micro ssd card and also installing on a Pi 3B but with the same result.

It appears that the system is not seeing the IOaudIO card and the appears to be born out by the attached log.

I would be grateful for any pointers for incorrect setup parameters or ways to test the IOaudIO card before I take it up with the suppliers.

I thought that particular board hasn't been available since IQaudIO went out of business quite a few years ago?
it's possible the Linux kernel driver doesn't work with it anymore.

I think I still have one of the boards lying around. If I can find it I'll run some tests.
