In the Q3 manual, there is a chart of the GPIO on page 5. The Q7 manual doesn't have the chart, but it is probably the same. J7 is the isolated GPIO.

The solution for Q3 and Q7 is to use a stacking header with GPIO pins 2 and 4 removed and power ProtoDAC directly from the 5V and GND pads between the RCA jacks with 5VDC.
Looking at the Gabby video again, it appears that he was powering ProtoDAC with 3.3V.
