i found moode sort of by accident the other day; i was going to install vanilla rpi debian, and noticed it in the installer.

my intent was to set up a DLNA/UPnP server for "casting" my music from my jellyfin server using my smartphone -- but moode is an infinitely nicer solution! i really like being able to use the existing SMB shares i already had set up. plus, adding the DLNA/UPnP renderer was simple!

internet radio works infinitely better on moode than through a chromium browser using chromecast, too! my favorite station is WEQX out of manchester VT - check it out on this streamable URL: http://crystalout.surfernetwork.com:8001/WEQX_MP3

what a pleasant surprise! thank you to everyone involved in making this awesome little project!

one thing i'll add about the install process -- i couldn't get the pi to set up its own wireless network for the initial install. i tried everything i could think of, and it just wouldn't work. i ended up plugging an ethernet cord into the pi and into my router, and that worked like a charm -- not sure what the issue was (i didn't see anything revealing in any logs), but if you have any trouble there, try plugging it in. (once it was plugged in and setup, wifi worked fine, so the plugging is temporary)

finally, the one thing i can't figure out how to make moode do that i still must rely on my chromecast audio for is casting audio from youtube. my kids do this, and so it needs to be super simple. they usually go to chromium, open up a youtube video, hit the cast button and choose the chromecast. i was surprised to see that firefox didn't have a "cast to DLNA/UPnP" extension, and i know that chromecast renderers aren't really possible given google's position. has anyone found a solution to this? i was looking at this project, but it seems dead: https://github.com/mas94uk/upnpTube

thanks!
