I hadn't thought about turning the Backlight off with the timeout. Sounds like a good idea so will have to get round to trying 9.x.x.
I think the 4.3inch screen is a good size for an album art display. The box ends up a similar height to the Amplifier it sits next to, and I can see what's playing from the sofa without having to start up the Tablet. Useful when it is randomly working through the music collection and I think "what on earth is that"!
My previous build used a 1.3inch OLED display. I had to put on my glasses or sit right next to it to read the text on that one.
