what would be a safe way to not violate any music sharing laws?
in the meantime i investigated further...the flac files in questions have two strange characteristics:
- their tags can't be edited (at least with mp3tag)
- they are missing all meta data (windows: right click -> properties -> details...everything empty, even the duration and bitrate)
the files can be played though, but vlc media player does not know what their duration is
am i assuming correctly that these files may be damaged? (they are game soundtracks and were directly purchased from the developers webshop. destiny/bungie if anyone is inerested in knowing)
edit: further testing is inconclusive
some folders, at which the mpd scan stops, could be fixed by reducing the embedded cover size
other folders/files seem to fail because names include an apostrophe (e.g. "Composer's Album")
i'm not sure if removing the apostrophe does actually help but i imagine that an apostrophe should be no problem, right?
the librarycould be scanned with moode8 without issues, what has changed from 8 to 9 that could matter now?
are there mpd settings that i could check/change to better work with my library?
edit2: it stops almost randomly
is there any way i could get better logs to see what is happening? /log/mpd/log only stops apruptly but without any hint what is happening
You won't be infringing on copyright because any files provided to our project are only used for troubleshooting your specific issues.
It looks like the flac gaming files are broken so no need to provide any of them.
I'd be interested in testing the file with the huge cover.
Files with special characters or punctuation should not be an issue. I have many in my collection. There was an issue poster recently though that files with tags containing URL's can cause problems.
You can get more info by turning on verbose logging in MPD Config but the log will be ginormous.
