IMO the Katana is in another league, especially bass response but the Boss is really great.
The Digital filters operate at around the Nyquist frequency (1/2 the source sample rate) and so their effect may not be audible.
I think the general consensus among DIY audio folks is that good quality power supplies and a power isolation board provide a good "bank for the buck" audible improvement in SQ.
