Strangely, yes, the RPi Imager completed the verify step with no error.
I'm thinking the USB-C to USB-A adapter I was using might be to blame. (I was running the RPi Imager from my newer laptop with USB-C ports.)
Today I'm going to try connecting my USB-A SD-card reader directly into a USB-A port on my older laptop.
If that doesn't work, I'd like to try booting from a USB thumb drive. I think I have some USB 2.0 thumb drives lying around. Does Moode 9.x.x running on a RPi 4 support booting from a USB thumb drive?
