in the past few months we have been working on the RPI3B+ specifically on the GB ethernet problem
For those of you that are not aware , the RPI3B+ has issues working at full GB speed )actually about 250Mbs as the IO of the CPU is a USB2.0) while feedding a DAC through the USB
In our latest test , we solved the issue by changing the LAN IC and Ethernet to USB IC.
We now have the RPI working at about 320Mbs with absolutely no click and pops up to DSD 512. Even DSD 1024 should be theoretically possible
Unfortunately the fix is very hard to implement on the stock rpi3B+
