I have always followed the guides (and the changes that have been made).
There is something new that (at least for me) does not make the process work
If you mention pi / moodeaudio you most probably didn't read the guide... it warns you that NOW a username + password NEED to be set-up in the Raspberry Imager application PRIOR to flashing the image to the SD card. Failing to do so results in a system without any user... unusable.
There is, INDEED something new; and you didn't read about it.
But he may have chosen "pi" and "moodeaudio" in the Imager. He apparently has a working 9 series system which suggests the Imager was used and a userid/password was entered.

...and no... I read it and I did it.
I entered login and psw (not pi and moodeaudio) before flashing and I had problems.
Then, I also tried to enter (before flashing) pi and moodeaudio
So I read and I tried everything.
...but I'll try again... it must work

Once you specify username and password in the Pi flasher program, those are the credentials you access moOde with.
Also, when sudo-ing commands, if you are asked for a password, ti is the same as above.

Now I'm having a weird problem, updating 9.2.3 (I think; it had been a while) to 9.3.0.
I did botch it the first time, so I took out the uSD card from my RPi 4 and used the RPi Imager to write 9.3.0 onto the uSD.
Stuck that back in my RPi, booted it up.
Everything seems fine except that the Library page doesn't show any files on the external USB hard drive.
I see the radio stations and they play.
Is it a problem that my USB connected HDD is formatted NTFS?
Also, in the upper left of the screen, there used to be a dropdown for different views of the music files (Tags view, Folder view, Radio, etc.). Now all I see is a Search box.
I can SSH into the RPi to the command line, but I'm a Linux moron.
I downloaded the moode.log file, and it shows my external USB drive is detected.

That looks correct. So why aren't the files and folders on that drive appearing in the Moode UI?
Should I send you the moode.log file? How/where to send?
What command(s) should I run to make sure the external USB drive is properly mounted?
Any other commands I should run to get info that might be helpful?
Oops, I kept reading the moode.log file and I found that all the files on this hdd are failing to load, with errors like this:
20250326 172933 thumb-gen: Error: Not a valid FLAC bitstream: USB/MoOde LR Music/JAZZ_16-BIT/Cedar Walton & George Coleman/Eastern Rebellion/05. Mode for Joe.flac
I connected that USB hdd to my Windows laptop and loaded that file into foobar. It plays with no issues. Any other files I chose also played with no issues.
Why is Moode 9.3.0 declaring that these files are not in a valid FLAC bitstream? What could cause that? Is the NTFS formatting not allowed?
Thanks.

Yes, of course. Are you referring to this line?
**NOTE: The new version of MPD requires a freshly generated music database. Use REGENERATE Music database on the Library Config screen.
Yes, I followed that directive, several times, with reboots in between. Is there a next step after that?

Thanks Tim, Thanks Al.
I managed to solve my issues. The cause was one of those things you’d never expect.
My Pi4 uses my TV as a display. It was the connection to the screen that stopped the boot. I turned off the TV, reconfigured the entire display section from pc, and ... magic! Everything worked.
Then, I discovered another problem. The configuration restore crashed everything. I tried the restore separately, config, Camilla, etc. It was Camilla config who was going into error and wouldn't let moOde go.
What a struggle!
But now I can appreciate the changes of the latest versions, which I did not see before, even though I was convinced that my moOde was up to date.
