ProtoDAC TDA1387 X8 project
Yeah it's frustrating as when I was first recommended the CMC filter by my colleague all parts were in stock at both DigiKey and Mouser.
I hesitated as I didn't know whether it would be appropriate for my setup and didn't know how good the filter would be (lack of understanding). That's really disappointing the CMC has been discontinued by the manufacturer....

You're right LCSC has the CMC in stock. Would be ~$13 USD delivered for just that part.... Not sure it's worth it.

The Ali ones are much cheaper. People seem to be very happy with the P089ZB, and Digikey/Mouser and the store was sold out of parts for a while.

Another ProtoDac is in action.   Thanks for the support Mark (and forum....great information)!   Just starting my venture into RPi and building my own streamer setup.   The Pi and Protodac are feeding a new diy headphone amp project shared by Alexcp over at diyaudio (Omicron).   Sounds wonderful!   Looking forward to expanding / upgrading power supplies, clocks!    I have those SMPS power supply filter boards (pervious post) on my "Build This MoFo"  monoblocks.   There is yet another stepped up version on that project underway with all surface mount parts that is suppose to be even better!

@hifinet I've noticed that no one's mentioned the AmyAlice filter:

I've built several, but haven't got the ProtoDac setup to power the DAC card seperately. It's a smt mount soldering trainer board that is a very steep differential filter.  Pls check your private mail here

Yep….that’s the one and another version with cap multiplier. I will be ordering pCB (gerbers) and playing around with my smd soldiering skills. https://www.diyaudio.com/community/threa...ps.406233/.
Sorry about the duplicate attachments above??!!

Nothing exotic, but I really like the sound of the polycarbonate caps. A bit more "atmosphere" to my ears.

I've built three ProtoDACs so far, two with ERO/Roederstein MKC caps and one with these NOS Russian Polycarbonate caps from Bulgaria. The seller offers matching for hardly any additional cost, which is nice.

Both these and the Roedersteins sound excellent.

I also picked up some of the late Soviet production K77-1. OTK stamps. Heavy steel casing. Nonmagnetic wires. Glad to hear they sound excellent.

Some info on Soviet caps.

Finally got my fifopi Q7ll installed. But I stumbled upon an issue. Once I turn on the power on the clean side, 3.3v, of the Q7ll I lose contact with moOde over WiFi. Once I turn it off again, moOde is back!!! Do I have to do something with the audio configuration to get it to connect to the Q7ll?

I’v really enjoyed all the latest discussions on power supply’s and caps. Regarding the Mundorf evo oil I really like them.

Yes, I agree, very interesting discussion.
Regarding the Mundorfs, another explanation for your appreciation, compared to the Wima?
Thank you

I’ll give it a try; together with my decware, they have a warm sound with a little roald off top end. That are really nice with acoustic and vocal. It’s a cap I can listen too for hours without fatigue. The supreme oil are also a good choice, but I don’t think they are worth the extra cost.
