So we're back to the same kind of output I was questioning on 4/22.

Now we know you have a Synology NAS (which have been a challenge for some folks to configure). Are you using SMB or NFS as your file-sharing protocol? 

It looks like you have the following directory branch on your NAS

The first three lines of the output you posted say MPD tried to open a file named ".mpdignore" at each level. It threw an input/output error each time, which in normal conditions means a disk error.

I've never seen this behavior before with my open-source NASes whether using SMB or NFS, and attempts to search the web on the key points gets me hits on your posts here but not on any posts to, say, an MPD-related forum. There was an issue posted to MPD a long time ago about MPD ignoring the .mpdignore file (talk about irony!) using NFS.

The output is suggestive but I'm hesitant to call this an MPD bug without knowing more about the Synology NAS code. Sadly it's proprietary.

1) can you try again with MPD 0.20.20?

2) I'm just gropping in the dark, but can you post the output from the following command?

You can cut it off after the "The Collection" subdirectory if there are more at the same level.

Note the use of the backslash to make this work from the command line.

Looking through MPD log seems like within a particular album some songs synch while others don't. Many Albums no songs synch.

If "The Collection" is an album where no songs synch, could you also post the ls -lR output for an album subdirectory where some songs sync and some don't?

Kent thanks for pitching in on this posting. The Synology NAS has been great for just about everything other than moOde. Since I started using moOde back in 2016 have had trouble synching but nothing like I faced with 5.0. I use NFS because never had any luck with SMB. 

Anyway I started fresh again this evening with new install of 5.0 MPD 0.20.20 but this time I am trying to synch with one shared folder with just 4 artists/albums. Screen shot attached. Updated the database and only one album synch. Below is output of command 
cat /var/log/mpd/log

No clue where to go from here other keep looking for others with similar issue and stick with 4.4. Cheers

Turns out that the culprit is the Synology DSM software after all. It's generating these weird folders in some sort of indexing scheme. Here's two representative posts:

Sorry I took so long to find this. Given the popularity of Synology NAS products I'm surprised the issue hasn't popped up in MPD circles. I'm not sure why it doesn't bite in moOde r4.4 but does in r5.0 but it suggests some recent change to MPD makes its directory-traversal code misfire on the weird name. Now that I know @eaDir directories are actually being written, I can try a test by creating one on my (OpenMediaVault) NAS.

So in some case you can get a lot of hidden folders (@eaDir) with preview data that you dont need anymore.

It can be significant Gb in case of Video (becuase @eaDir contains flv / mp4 preview).

A quick test with my NAS shows the mere presence of this directory doesn't throw off moOde r5.0 so it must be the "preview data" which is screwing up the works and I have no way to generate it.

I don't know how or what to put in a mpdignore, google might be my friend so I can take gander. My concern is since there is no consistent pattern I would have to do that for all the NAS folders / subfolders just to be sure it never happens. It is funny when I look on into the NAS folders I don't see any file with "@eaDir".

Also, the so called dot files are traeated as hidden files in Linux, Mac OS X etc. They typically don't so up in GUI File manager utilities unless there is an option in the utils to "Show hidden files"

I am willing to share an unfiltered recursive directory with you but not sure how that can be done. Using the tips you and TC have provided I created an mpdignore file and placed it in the shared folder called Music. I put both @eaDir and @aeDir/ in the file. Spent the better part of the day synching music on 5.0 but the issue of random albums/tracks with mpdignore I/O error persisted. Finally, just gave up and went back to 4.4. Found zero errors after fresh install of 4.4 on two different RPi's, all ALL albums/tracks synched.

@JohnM73 - You might want to check your Router's WiFi logs to see if there are any errors from MAC address of the Pi thats trying to associate. Also make triple sure the SSID and password are correct. 

On moOde you can verify that the correct wireless regulatory domain is being used via the cmd below

Just wanted to say that my Wifi issues (touch wood!) seem to have been solved. I unplugged everything, checked it all, started from scratch. Flashed a clean install of version 5.2, and it all seems to be working perfectly this time. Thanks for all the suggestions earlier in this thread

Hi,

I prefer to control Moode through an Ipad, the GUI was always nice and quite responsive but not anymore. The new one seems less responsive (running on rpi 3b+ with ehternet connection).
But the most annoying flaw is that it now has white edges on top and bottom. When listening to music in the evening with little light his is very distracting 

Can this be solved please?
