I just installed moOde for the first time; release 6.4.2 on a PI 3 B+.
I'm using a USB DAC: ESS Sabre32 Reference ES9018K2M in a Parasound P6.
Linux correctly detects the DAC via lsusb.
Per the instructions, I deselected I2S audio device, rbooted, etc., as well as trying other changes.
However, in MPD Configuration -> Device type, the only option is "Nothing selected".
Can anyone suggest what to look at?

Good point. Yes, the Parasound has worked with Linux.
In the log, it looks like the problem starts at:
Code: Audio formats (cat: /proc/asound/card0/pcm0p/sub0/hw_params: No such file or directory)
Not sure what this means yet, or if it's the root cause or a symptom...

I don't think there's necessarily problem with your USB DAC.

I seem to recall running into this kind of behavior a while back.
In my case IIRC I had a player configured for a USB DAC, had removed the DAC while the player was off, and forgot about it (I was using the DAC in a test of another moOde player). I saw the same ALSA errors albeit for a different device. They went away when I plugged the DAC back in.

- Download a fresh image from moodeaudio.org.
- Install it onto a known good SDCard.
- Boot up without any audio device or other hardware connected and don't change any Moode settings.

Thanks for the reply.The DAC is definitely OK. It has worked with Linux and Windows, and is connected to the PI.
Either the I2S device is selected by default on a new moOde install, or this installation is corrupted because I don't have an I2S device. The Setup Guide, below, suggests that I2S is selected by default.
