Instruction Guide Connect HA-DSP
#1
Has anyone tried to use a HA MiniDsp with MoOde 4.0 or above? I have the usb cable connected to the HA-DSP and the Pi3 with MoOde4.0 running. Never connected an external dac to MoOde rig before so I may have over looked so I will post a few screenshots of my audio and mpd config. Thanks [Image: Screen%20Shot%202018-07-19%20at%209.08.2...lkiqym.png][Image: Screen%20Shot%202018-07-19%20at%209.08.2...lkiqym.png][Image: Screen%20Shot%202018-07-19%20at%209.08.0...scif7q.png][/img]

Set up guide here

It details how to switch from one device to another.

Hope all is well Wink

USB audio devices are automatically configured by Linux and ALSA.

Open MPD config and click the Audio output dropdown. If Linux/ALSA was able to successfully configure the device there will be a selection named "USB audio device" in addition to "On-board audio device". Just select it and then APPLY.

Thanks Ronnie and Tim

That is what I thought. Drop does not display USB audio device as an option just on board audio device. I will contact MiniDSP to see if they have any suggestions.

If I find my HA-DSP will not work with Linux have any suggestions on a HAT's that might allow me to listen to headphones.  Audiophonics has one called
ST400 V2 HAT Module Class D Amplifier / Headphone Amp / DAC PCM5122.

I've used IQaudIO Pi-DAC+ and PRO for headphones.

Appreciate the info. As soon as I hear back from MiniDSP ruling out a solution, I will get me either the IQaudio or the one on Audiophonics. Good day to you.

While you are waiting, plug your headphones into the raspberrypi.

The pi people have improved the default line output over the previous 12 months or so and it is now incorporated into the distro.

It won't hurt to try

@Man in a van & @Tim Curtis

Yes that is what I been doing up to now. I will admit the dev effort  has paid off, but to my ears the SQ lacks the clarity / resolution compared to other HA I have used. Since I don't use the HA-DSP much in my home office, headphone listening is done in my bedroom on my Grado or Sennheiser plugged into the Pi3 running MoOde. The biggest reason I like the HA-DSP is it has the possibility to have 4 different headphones tuned for my specific (significant loss on left) hearing. I have been able to use a phone connected to ha-dsp with BT but that has not been too reliable in the past. Since it has been several month maybe that should be revisited. Will post results of further testing soon.

Thanks again

After a fresh build and using a new USB cable can confirm in fact the MiniDSP HA-DSP is compatible with MoOde 4.2. SQ is fantastic.
