I am running 7.3.0 and after I updated to this version, I am now getting this message:
Failed to open "ALSA Default" (alsa); Failed to open ALSA device "_audioout": No such file or directory
Can you tell me how to fix this?

Try reapplying MPD config

The log suggests the image is broken. Try a fresh image.

I've been having the same problems. I didn't see them prior to my last software update to 7.3.0. Generally, I leave the PI switched on and one day just came back to it with the ALSA error. My first instinct was to reboot which had no effect.
Much as I dislike prodding settings I don't fully understand, I tried changing ALSA Output Mode to Direct(hw), restarted MPD and everything started working. It had been working with Default (plughw).
FWIW I'm running the RASPI into a Schiit DAC over USB. I've tried switching the DAC between inputs on the off chance that might be part of the problem. But apparently not. Also tried changing USB socket on the PI and that **might** have had an effect but I wasn't paying enough attention and did other stuff at the same time.
If/when the problem occurs again I'll be much more methodical and report back here.

With the Pi on do you ever switch your DAC off or change the input?
Doing this would prolly cause an ALSA error since the USB device has gone away. When you turn the device back on though it should automatically be re-recognized by Linux after a few seconds.
