Upcoming moOde 8.1.0 release (Q2)
#41
I assume a backup taken on 32 bit will restore into 64bit without issue?

@the_bertrum yep the backups of 32b and 64b are compatible. For max feature coverage, first upgrade the 32b to 8.1 and use the backup of it on the 64b version.

Cool.  I expect I'll be using in place updates mostly and staying 32 bit, but the "legacy" branding makes me think eventually we'll have to go 64bit in the end.

Nice, I’d imagine that maintaining 2 ports will be a lot of work! I’ll be moving to 64 bit immediately as I’m sure there will be a temptation to deprecate 32 when the new version is deemed successful. Thanks for the great work. Speaking of deprecation, this update triggered me to reconsider my use of roon. I’m sure it will run well on the new 64 but version but I was reminded of how open the development culture is on moode, so have cancelled my roon sub and started a new moode donation. FWIW I find dsp config on moode better, esp from a Linux machine, and have started using the radios again. Cheers!

Thanks to the super nice package and image builders from @bitlab generating the 32-but image is trivial :-)

The plan is to continue to release a 32-bit image as long as the Raspberry Pi Foundation releases one.
Enjoy the Music!

It looks like the ;latest version of chromium-browser does not have the issue where after ~2.5 hours all RAM gets eaten up. This means no more automatic restarts of LocalUI every 2 hours :-)
GREAT!  The restart does not work too well for my 7" Touch Screen - after some days, I find my moOde more and more often on the CLI login prompt and need to power cycle to continue using it.
But I do want moOde 8, so it's great if this is fixed. Eager to test this!   Big Grin

This is not normal behavior for the existing moOde 8.0.2. For example, at this moment my RPi3B+ with the "official" RPi 7-in touch screen has been up for 1 week 15 hours 24 minutes according to System Info. The moOde UI is working just fine with Chrome restarting every 2 hours.

Hm, interesting. Mine is an 8.0 that had lived at the office since... well, since 8.0 came out  Big Grin    It worked ok for some weeks, then I found it on the login prompt one day. Since then, if I restart it (power cycle), it works for some hours, then goes back to the login prompt within the day.

But no point in troubleshooting there, it's 8.0. I'm downloading the 8.0.2 image now and I'll do a fresh install. I'll give it a try until 8.1 comes along.

Thanks for that!
