Show artist in folder-library
#1
Hi there,

If I open a folder I can see the album name in first row and then all the songs in the following rows.

Like here:

What I miss is the artist. Can I activate it somewhere in the settings (such as the typical pattern: "Artist - Title")?

Especially for mixed albums like "best songs of the 90s" it would be very helpful (because I dont know all the songs by title only).

Thanks for your help and great development!

Have you got all your tags populated? Probably help to say which version of moOde you are using too.

Artist per track does not show up in the folder view even when correctly populated. I guess the logic is that you know the artist because you selected it while traversing the folder tree to get there. This falls down a little for compilations however. The options are to use the tag or album views, or add the tracks to the play queue where the artist name will be visible under the track name.

So this has changed since Version 6.xx?
In 6.4, which I'm still using, it shows "Artist - Album" below the track Title, in folder view.

I get you, there were updates to the Folder View for the v7 series, and this may well have been one of them. I can't honestly recall because I don't personally pay much attention to the folder view. Hopefully @Tim Curtis will remember the details.

If more requests for adding artist to the line then I can add to the TODO list.

I support the idea of adding artist to the line. It's really usefull when you're working with compilation playlists.
Tim Curtis, maybe in upcoming release, please

In Folder view or Playlist view?

Could be useful in both, but...
FOLDER VIEW
- show ONLY if Album Artist != Artist (note: empty Album Artist => same as Artist, but I think MPD takes care of it)
PLAYLIST VIEW
- show always, as it would be useful to identify more correctly each track

in FOLDER VIEW.

Currently, I can only see titles, and when I want to check the artist (especially in folder with f.e. compilation music), each time I have to use "Audio Info" to do it.
