great suggestion, unfortunately I could not find any extra files with ls-la

They may be in another folder, or in the root of the USB disk, or somewhere there; if you read the post pointed by @the_bertrum you may find some more information. The pattern, and the symptoms are exactly those.

I'm far from knowledgeable about what's going on, but just to say that I eliminate Mac files beginning with a dot by using the dot_clean command in the terminal.

It could also be.
Maybe during the first move of the files to the windows folder and the formatting of the usb key those ._ files were lost and i had not regenerated the cache.
Then I followed your suggestion and with ls -al I found nothing.
I moved the files back, reformatted the key, recopied the files and did the clean and regenerate cache.
Maybe it would have been enough to do the cache regenerate after the first time.

I did not know this command.

It seems a macos valid alternative to deletion via linux

Thank you.

Glad to hear the problem is resolved.

I apologize for coming on so strongly about metadata "standards." I had just received news of a family member being diagnosed with a devastating disease and I was in a take-no-prisoners mood.

To quote Tim's byline: enjoy the music.

I admit I am not precise with the tags, but I will check and correct the biggest anomalies.

Thanks for the suggestions.
