For APE files only, 'Cover are not found'
#1
In MoOde 9.0.0 on a RPi3B+, in the Tag view albums comprised of APE files can't load their cover art, which are named folder.jpg and are 600x600 to 1000x1000 pixels.

I have the cover art file embedded in the APE files and also an extra folder.jpg in the same folder with the APE files.
The issue does not occur for FLAC files.
The issue did not occur in the previously used Moode 8.3.x.

Does version 9 drop cover art support for APE files?

Thanks.

No, 9.0.0 (5/17/2024).

I had the Notify of Update setting enabled but it didn't notify. Is this an in-place update or do I need to install the OS from scratch?

System > Software Update > Check returns "Check for update failed"

You need to ssh in and run a command as noted in the release info.

Quote:In-place update

There is an in-place update available via the "CHECK for software update" button in System Config. Click the VIEW button to read about the contents of the update package. Be sure to BACKUP your system before applying the update.

Note: Due to an omission in the 9.0.0 release it's necessary to run the command below to make the update visible. It should complete in a second or two. Reboot after the completion message is printed.
Code:
Code:
wget -q -O - https://moodeaudio.org/test/r900patch.sh | sudo bash

I figured out why the cover art for APE files wasn't appearing in the Album or Tag views.
If you go to Preferences > Cover Art > Audio Formats, you'll see the Default setting does not scan APE files for image files. Set Audio Formats to All and the cover art for APE format audio files will appear after you've Regenerated the Album cover art cache. This was the same in version 8.3.9, so I guess I forgot this settings change was necessary for APE files.

Those "i" info popups are invaluable. Very helpful. Reading the one for Audio Formats gave me the info I needed to fix the issue. Thanks.

I also found that in 9.0.0 (I haven't updated to 9.0.1 yet), if the file names have certain non-English characters in them such as á, à, ó, ù, the Albums may not appear in the Library > Tag list.

I had a folder's worth of albums that weren't appearing the Tag list, so I edited the file names in that folder to remove those non-English characters (e.g., changed ó to plain old o) and the Albums then appeared after clearing the tags and regenerating the music database.
