Unable to get Spotify Connect connected
#1
Newbie here, I have installed mOode on an RP3B+. I everythink working at the moment, but I can't for the life of me figure out how to login to Spotify and get it working.

I have a Spotify premium account.

On a side note, is there any way to get YouTube music working with mOode?

Cheers!

I can't tell from your statement whether you know that you don't log into Spotify from moOde.

You connect to moOde's Spotify renderer from a Spotify app on some other device. Here in Chaos Manor East, for example, we do this from the Spotify apps on my Google Pixel 6a phone and Apple iPad Mini.

As for YouTube music, I choose not to subscribe to it but if I did I'd use the YouTube Music app on my iPad and use AirPlay to stream the music to the AirPlay renderer on my moOde player. As far as I know, there's no properly licensed open-source code available for creating a YTM renderer for moOde. I'm sure others will correct me if I'm wrong about this.

You phrased my problem better than I did.

I didn't know that I didn't need to log in. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction.

I've used Volumio in the past, and the plugin they used took care of the login process and security handshakes.

Thanks,
Mario.

Your screen capture shows your moOde Spotify renderer is enabled.

Assuming your device with a Spotify app (in my example, my phone or my iPad) is connected to the same LAN as your moOde player, you should see "moOde Spotify" (or whatever name you gave your renderer) as one of the choices you can select for output device.

On my apps there's a little icon which looks like two overlaid speakers at the bottom of the screen. Clicking on it on my iPad, I get a popup window which says the current device is "this iPad" and also “Select another device” with choices
  • Sunroom Spotify  << this is my moOde player in, you guessed it, the sunroom
  • Living Room  << this is a Sonos soundbar in, you guessed it, the living room
  • AirPlay or Bluetooth  << selecting this sends me to the usual AirPlay/Bluetooth menu
Hope this helps.

Kent

PS - that "Clear Crendential cache" button in the renderer setup is just a way of clearing an internal cache which can occasionally cause issues if it fills. It does not imply there's any credential setting somewhere else in the webUI.
