Qobuz and Tidal via Bubble UPNP on NAS?
#1
Hi,

How are you streaming from Qobuz and Tidal to your Moode player?

There is J-play which has a very nice interface that combines Qobuz, Tidal and your own local music storage but this runs through the iPad and that has some downsides.

Is there a nice way to stream both via a NAS solution like Bubble UPNP or something similar?

I use the Qobuz app on my iPhone and then send it to Moode using AirPlay.
Nice and simple.

Yes that is simple and I sometimes us this for my garage streamer but on my main audio installation I want to listen to a higher quality level.

hello, you just need to enable the upnp renderer, in OpenHome or UPnP-A/V modes as you prefer, and then BubbleUPnP should be able to do the rest.

I am using Bubbleupnp server on my NAS and use the Lumin app on iPad for control. This works for Qobuz but not for Tidal.
Also the user interface is not as rich in information as the Jplay app.

What specifically is your issue with moOde?

I was referring to BubbleUPnP as the android app, which should work for both Qobuz and Tidal. BubbleUPnP server is very useful e.g. in order to avoid disruption in playback when the phone goes to sleep moode: to do that, you need to play to the instance of the renderers which are managed by BubbleUPnP server (those are usually identified with a trailing " (OpenHome)" string on their names.

So the operative words I find in all this are Qobuz, Tidal, and OpenHome.
  • moOde can be an OpenHome-compliant UPnP Media Renderer if that option is chosen in the UPnP Config screen.
  • moOde can be a proxy UPnP Media Server for Qobuz (through a plugin in the upmpdcli code) once the account info is entered.
  • moOde used to be able to be a proxy UPnP Media Server for Tidal (again, through a plugin in the upmpdcli code) but Tidal broke that ability several years ago when they changed their authentication scheme.
(Keep in mind that upmpdcli and its plugins are projects separate from moOde with their own devs.)

Recently, upmpdcli and its Tidal plugin code have been updated so that access to Tidal is again possible technically but it hasn't been integrated into moOde in a user-friendly way (at least not yet).

See my other thread upmpdcli TIdal plugin. The steps outlined in that thread were for moOde 9.0.x. Now that moOde 9.1.0 including the updated upmpdcli code has been released, some of the preliminary steps are unnecessary but the authentication scheme remains relatively complicated. I have not had a chance yet to test it in 9.1.0 (should work but ya never know) and amend my thread about the Tidal plugin.

We have nothing to do with other UPnP producrs such as BubbleUPnP, BubbleUPnP Server, JPlay, Lumin, etc.
