PeppyMeter and moOde
@fdealexa

OMG.

I tried logging into the diyaudio forum for the first time in a v-e-r-y long time* and discovered you had already posted on this very issue and its solution back in 2021.

My apology for not doing my due diligence....and a tip of my hat to you!

I'm not sure why @rpi didn't take action back then--libpng is the official PNG reference library and not just RaspiOS uses libpng-1.6--but I'll give it another shot.

I could always fork the peppymeter-git repo to my own github account, create a new branch, and modify the images on it. Then moOde users could clone it instead, but I'd *much* prefer the author deal with the matter in the official repo.

Regards,
Kent

*So long ago the forum won't let me post until the admins have reconfirmed the email address I used when I created the account.  Sad

Hi Kent,
sorry for the delay in replying to you: after two years I took a short holiday break and just returned home.
There's no need to apologize - I'm happy we both arrived at the same possible solution.
I also agree on the fact of not creating a FORK which in the future should always be kept updated with the original project.
Best regards, a warm hug and thanks,
Francesco

Hi Marco,
I just returned home from holidays and I modified the two files relating to AUTOSTART to download from GITHUB (fda_autopeppy.py and fda_autopeppy.service).
Could you please be so kind to download the two files and check if the issue is solved?
Best regards and thanks,
Francesco

Hi, I was wondering if any of you great folks can help me figure this out @fdealexa @TheOldPresbyope @Pappece @nagras

I have a Waveshare 7.9 HDMI display with PI-4B running and everything is working great but I am having trouble getting the Peppymetter to work. I have gone through the entire step by step here https://github.com/FdeAlexa/PeppyMeter_a.../tree/main and I can get the Tube screen to show up in the last step, BUT I CAN NOT get the needles to move.

I am running the latest MoOde Release 9.0.8. In the tutorial I could not get the two L: R: bars to move in this step : https://github.com/FdeAlexa/PeppyMeter_a...2_moOde.md
maybe this has something to do with that? I am also using the USB audio OUT.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Acoustas,
Have you enable the loopback?

Thank you so much it is now working!!! I found a type I made and that was it. This is so cool.

Is it possible for the meter to autostart if I pause the song and the play it again. Also right now if the meter is going and I touch the screen, it is now off. Can it automatically start again after a little timeout if the music is playing?

Also is it possible to have the meter going when I am using Airplay and or Spotify Connect?

Thank you so much once again.

Hi Acoustas,
I am happy you have solved.
For the Autostart: if you look to https://github.com/FdeAlexa/PeppyMeter_a.../README.md at the end there are some link  to additional developments: one of them is auto start.
About the second question: I dont know because I dont use those options. You can try.
Best regards,
Francesco
