MPD 0.24.0 released

After a long development cycle MPD 0.24.0 has been released with many important improvements and fixes :-)

It will take our project some time to create and test a 0.24.0 build. How much time it takes depends on several factors including developer bandwidth, 0.24.0 code changes that may affect integration of our nice Selective Resampling patch, test time for many use cases and bugs that may require waiting for 0.24.x.

Multichannel 5.1 FLAC works perfectly over HDMI to Yamaha AVR :-)

Theres a new "close_on_pause yes|no" option that can be used to keep the ALSA output open. Theres not much in the MPD docs about what the feature is supposed to do when set to "no". Is it to help reduce start/stop audio glitches???

I think I'll include it in MPD Config and see if there is any feedback on which configurations work well with "close_on_pause = no" and which do not.

The rather old issue 1623 talks a bit about "no" and ALSA stuff that's above my pay grade.

Just an FYI that a new major version of MPD requires a REGEN of the Music Database.

Hello!

Some DACs have a delay of several hundred milliseconds before starting playback. This results in the beginning of the track being cut off by 100-300 milliseconds. This is exactly my case. To be honest, it is a bit annoying. Perhaps the "always_on" parameter will allow not to send the mute command to the DAC between tracks. I think this is a necessary and useful feature.

I wonder if the library size 'limitations' have been addressed? I had to abandon using Moode via an Allo USBridge due to having 15 plus TB of music. Would love to be able to go back to having Moode as an option

I replaced the Pi device with a Cambridge MXN10 and play music via FooBar --> UPNP --> MXN10 --> Schiit BiFrost 2.......
