dsi or hdmi

i plan to put a lcd display in my box   , i have a rpi 4   , my idea is  to let the rpi already in the same possision in the case  ( old marantz  )   and use an  extender between rpi and display , but the only extender i find is dsi is for rpi 5  , is a hdmi would be better  in this way  ? ,  and is hdmi are support , i asume dsi is the prefer method

i know the touch 2  7" are support but in the marantz box i mod   i have the exact place to use the 7.9 " waveshare  without    saw  the front   pannel  which is going to  loose the concept of keeping  the original box "look"  marantz sr-8000 empty enclosure ,   now i dont know what to chose between dsi or hdmi

I don't have either of those screens so I can't make a recomendation but I do have a Wimaxit 10.1" HDMI screen that uses the same type of HDMI and USB connectors as the Waveshare and it works fine.

I’m using the hdmi version with Moode, with no issues (mainly as a coverview display).
