PeppyMeter and moOde
Hello everybody,
Thanks a lot to both of you.
I hope to replicate your solution during the next week to study them.
With reference to your questions (Tim):
1. There are a lot of skin at several resolutions those incorporate meter, cover, metadata; some with elegant background (gelo5 is a prolific author).
2. I have to study it
3. I think so
Best regards and thanks again,
Francesco

Hi friend I would like to ask you two questions.
1) " There are a lot of skin at several resolutions those incorporate meter, cover, metadata; some with elegant background" : Do you know a skin for 1280x400 with readable font and and clickable buttons?I'm starting to lose my vision and my fingers are big.
2) Is it possible to start Peppy Meter automatically instead of turning off the screen or as a screensaver?

PS: If you like I can upload a short video about my project .

After briefly looking into whats needed for metadata and covers it looks like some of the PeppyMeter python scripts would need to be modified to accomplish this along with companion code in moode and thats a no-go for me but maybe there is another dev thats interested.

I think a PeppyMeter screen saver option that provides basic configuration in the WebUI is best for moode. It eliminates manual installation and has a simple ALSA config. The DSD native config is the only questionable part. It works but it adds configuration complexity for a niche scenario. I'll have to spend more time with it to see if it can be simplified.

I understand that the 1280x400 resolution is a bit peculiar and makes graphic settings difficult, but I think many people have the same problem as me: they have trouble reading the text because it is small, as are the buttons if you have big fingers. I think that if the font size in the webUI were increased a bit, the screen would be more comfortable to use.

I'm not sure whether u are referring to moode WebUI font size or some sort of PeppyMeter font size but for moode there is a Font Size option in Preferences but it's not fully implemented and no one over the years has volunteered to take on the considerable challenge of completing it. I don't have the expertise in CSS to do it.

Sorry if I wasn't clear..

The first issue concerns the font size, which would make the webUI easier to use.

The second is a wish of mine: I'd like Peppy Meter to function as a screen saver in moode.

Do you know how to increase the font size?

Testing with a Pi Touch 2 was not successful.

This is prolly because its natively a portrait orientation display i.e., 720x1280 which IMO was a really strange design decision. It can be rotated to landscape orientation via a special entry in /boot/firmware/cmdline.txt

Code:
video=DSI-1:720x1280@60,rotate=90

But PeppyMeter still displays in portrait orientation and thus is unusable. Setting screen.width and screen.height in PeppyMeter/config.txt has no effect.

It's been years since I looked at the PeppyMeter code, but off the top of my head I'd guess this is because it writes directly to the framebuffer. I expect @fdealexa has some thoughts.

I'm tied up most of today but I'll have a look myself when I can get to it.

Regards,
Kent
