Problem: NAS (Syncology) not able to mount properly
#11
Hi, you can...but I'm not sure how to do it. I did try:

richards-iMac-6:~ richardstevens$ ssh username@ip.addressrt
ssh rtj@192.168.1.213
ssh NAS@192.168.1.213
ssh: connect to host ip.addressrt port 22: Operation timed out
richards-iMac-6:~ richardstevens$ ssh rtj@192.168.1.213
ssh: connect to host 192.168.1.213 port 22: Connection refused
richards-iMac-6:~ richardstevens$ ssh NAS@192.168.1.213
ssh: connect to host 192.168.1.213 port 22: Connection refused
richards-iMac-6:~ richardstevens$ ssh rtj@192.168.1.213
ssh: connect to host 192.168.1.213 port 22: Connection refused
richards-iMac-6:~ richardstevens$

Using the MoOde terminal:
moode login: guest

Aha.

The default settings for moOde are username: pi, password: moodeaudio and you end each entry with a <return>.

pi@moode:~ $ v
-bash: v: command not found
pi@moode:~ $ pi@MoodeLR:~ $ smbtree -N -b
-bash: pi@MoodeLR:~: command not found
pi@moode:~ $

(Tim's alternative came some time after yours Kent).

I'll give it one more go and then revert to V2.6 (The advantage of that version for me is that it contains a script that lets the Audiophonics boards access the display panel (on the Audiophonics unit))

I sincerely hope that I haven't wasted your time.

@Bonky

This is emphatically not a waste of time for us. We don't have direct access to a Synology NAS so you are actively helping us gather data. Please don't abandon r4.4 just yet!

We need to get back to command-line basics, though. You don't type any part of "pi@moode:~ $". That's just the Linux prompt. Just type

smbtree -N -b

or

smbclient -N -L <servername>

Regards,
Kent

PS - the name after the "@" will be whatever is the current hostname of the moOde player. That's "moode" in the default case and why you saw "MoodeLR" in one of my posts.

I may need to give this up soon (household duties) and return later - perhaps tomorrow.

Apologies...but it's all a different language to me.My days of programming ended with he BBC/Sinclair/Microsoft Basic days!

if you think I can help please bear this in mind - you will need to spell everything out to me. I would NOT blame you if you walked away...

Richard

@ Bonky

I have a Macbook Pro and a Synology DS415play. Can confirm that moOde 4.4 works with my Synology NAS. If you would like I am happy to help. I suggest  you send me a PM so we can work together until solved. Once solved you can post the solution on this thread.

Thanks Oniohead, yes, let's do it.

Please could you give me a screenshot of your set-up readings?
