On 6.5.2 when I enable the Low Boost graphic equaliser setting I get an MPD error.  It has not occurred before on any version of Moode.  Not sure if it is just an anomaly.

I've fixed the MPD error.  I went to MPD settings and changed the sampling rate from 32bit 384khz to 24bit 192khz.  I then set the Graphic Equaliser again and I am not getting the MPD error.

Using a Pi Zero with an I2S DAC, I am wondering how to get back the performance of the 6.4 version.

In 6.5 the boot time until music plays is about 30 percent slower (something like 1m 30 s).
Even worse, the shutdown time is almost doubled. 10s --> 20s.

That the whole GUI reacts more laggy in 6.5 is of course bearable. 

However, can someone recommend tweaks to speed up boot and shutdown?

Please no proposals for an new PI  Rolleyes. Pi Zero plays music with < 10 percent CPU load absolutely fine.

Reboot and post the Moode startup log. It will show which section is taking the longest to complete.

I ran a few stopwatch tests and my 0W shuts down in 15-20 secs and boots to the point where auto play kicks in 1 min 15 secs. In comparison my Pi-3B+ shutdown time is about same 15 secs or so but it boots much faster at around 30 secs to the point where auto play starts. This is with no renderers, hdmi, localUI etc.

These times for 0W seem normal to me since it's got only a single core. I don't have any more 6.4 series systems and so can't test those boot times but if they are faster for the 0W its probably because there were fewer features that needed to be processed by moOde startup. Something like that.

Ok. Thanks for testing / reproducing.
I have two identical HW setups running in different rooms.
One still on 6.4 and the other for being curious on 6.5.
Therefore, the difference is quite visible / detectable.
What I was wondering, what happens during these 42 seconds?
