how to use BT-W4 on raspberry pi 3
#1
Hi,

Currently used is "Raspberry Pi 3 Model B Rev 1.2" with bullseye with
    onboard bluetooth  connected to WTX-700
and of course the latest version of moodeaudio software 8.3.3-1

My goal is to:
- turn off  the onboard bluetooth  or  at least not use it,
- use the BT-W4 usb key received this morning, to connect to WTX-700

I don't know on the moodle menu (http://192.168.6.xxx/blu-config.php)  how to choose the onboard or the bluetooth USB key BT-W4. There is no choice. May be it is not possible?

Any help will be greathly appreciated
Phil

PS: I tried to follow https://di-marco.net/blog/it/2020-04-18-...pberry_pi/
however the moode menu ( (http://192.168.6.xxx/blu-config.php) do not display anything, so back to previous moode webpage.

Try turning off the built-in Bluetooth adapter. The option is on the System Config page. Reboot after making the change.
Enjoy the Music!

@Phil35

See my experience with the earlier model BT-W2

ETA - these days, the moOde Audio config panel reports my BT-W2 as Output Device: Creative Bluetooth Audio W2

thanks to you both for your quick answers.

Of course @tim ,  this is in the menu ...  I apologize

however why the button is grey .. so it is not possible to "SET"  (see screenshot), of course I selected "Creative BT-W4" first ?
The selection is always "PI headphone jack"

Hi,

I succeded but not so easy with BT-W4 to pair with WTX-700.

-Home -> Bluetooth -> Bluetooth Control -> Audio output: choose "Local audio"
-Home -> Configure -> Audio -> ouput device: choose "Creative BT-W4"
-Home -> Configure -> System -> Startup option: bluetooth "OFF" "SET"
-restart the raspberry pi

-pairing with the headset Jabra Evolve 75: easy just click the button on the USB key when the headset is in the mode search
That's fine. ("blue light": meaning SBC).  The sound is better than with the onboard bluetooth.

-pairing with WTX-700 was a little bit tricky.
  No success despite several tries.
  solution:
I used the windows PC of my wife :-). Plugin the BT-W4, install the creative app,  update, reboot
then pairing with WTX-700 is possible and Ok.
Now the paired device is stored on the USB BT-W4 key.
    unplug from PC
    plug in the raspberry
Everything is fine,  sound is great "green light" meaning aptX

Thank you @Tim @TheOldPresbyope for your help
King regards
Philippe

Hi,
Update, FYI
"Creative Technology, Ltd Creative BT-W4" works like a charm since june.
There is no comparison possible with native bluetooth on the pi 3.
The sound is good and it works everytime, no need to reboot the pi 3 as before.
