I would really love to test it, do you have suggestions on a quick way to test it? I am on the official code, I am not working on a git clone.

Nevermind, I just saw 8.3.9 is out, I am updating right now and I will report here. In case this is okay, I will close my PR

It is fixed in 8.3.9, no more constant updates. I think we lost the update of bitrate for VBR files, but I can live with it.
Maybe I can take a look and try to fix the code to update currentsong.txt when the bitrate changes.
