Problem: Bluetooth goes to max volume
#1
Hello,

I have just upgraded to the latest release of Moode, from the previous moode 8 latest release, and i have noticed a change.

Before, when i selected bluetooth as the output mode in my samsung tv (paired with Moode audio), initial volume was 0, o close to 0. In any case i always had to increase the voume with the tv remote controller.

Now, after upgrade, volume after connection to bluetooth is automatically set to 100 %. After i decrease it to a sensible level, I can disconnect and re-connect from the tv to the Bluetooth and the volume stays at the previous level. But if i restart the controller, and again i select bluetooth as the output channel on the tv, volume is 100% again.

Can you maybe tell me what additional information can i provide that could help troubleshoot this behaviour?. I think that initial volume on renderers should always be initiated to 0, to prevent damage to hearing and audio hardware. At least there should be an initial volume option that can be configured, as i the case with the spotify renderer.

Thanks in advance!

In moode Bluetooth Control is output set to "Local audio" or "Bluetooth speaker"?

Hello Tim, thanks for your fast answer.

Playing from TV to moode bluetooth it would be the TV thats setting the initial volume. There is no initial volume setting in moode for incoming bluetooth connections but you can limit ALSA max volume for Bluetooth in Audio Config. This assumes the audio device connected to moode supports "hardware (ALSA) volume".

I ran a quick test on my Samsung TV and yes the TV volume for the bluetooth connection is at 100 every time the connect is made. I have no idea why this is the case.

Hi Tim, thanks again for the answer. But this behaviour was not happening 3 days ago when i still had my moode with the latest 8 release. Does this detail bring any light onto the problem?

Not really because moode 9 series is based on a completely new OS, kernel and component software set plus our project only has the bandwidth to troubleshoot the current series.

I noticed that when I connect my TV to moode bluetooth the TV's volume popup is briefly displayed with the initial 100 volume level showing. I suppose thats meant to be an awareness notice.

Here's a post from last year referencing Samsung bluetooth 100 volume issue
