Streaming stops suddenly
#1
Hello all, hello Tim,
Since a few weeks both my Raspberries stop suddenly playing radio. Strange, because it worked flawlessly for quite a long time, no issues at all. Mostly this is after some 20 minutes. I first thought it was a bad network connection, so I changed network cables, changed port on the router/modem, and tested via wifi. With wifi this also happens. I changed postition of the raspberries, upstairs and downstairs, and it still happens, so I think the connection via the modem is not the problem. Can anybody help me to figure out what I am doing wrong. I uxe the 9.1.2 version of he software on a Pi4 and a Pi3b, both with Protodac HAT.
All suggestions are very welcome

Your name appears Dutch to me; Could it be a Dutch problem?
I saw another post by @"kurt1970” who has radio issues too and he linked to a Dutch site.
BTW, I am using Ziggo as provider.

Yes, I  am a Dutch citizen, living in Utrecht Netherlands. I don`t think it is a specific Dutch problem, BR (Bayrische Rundfunk) stops sometimes as well)
I also read the discussion Kurt1970 started, I understood it is softwareconflict in 9.1.2, which -if I understand correctly- will be solved in upcoming version 9.1.3.
This afternoon I shall make a new Sd with 32 bit version 8.3.9 on it I feel that version is more robust, and wait a while until I can update my 9.1.2 Sd.

I mainly listen to KCRW and Radio Paradise, those are from the US.
It happens with both, although for me, currently,  it has been stable for several hours.
My point was that it could be related to a Dutch provider (Ziggo).
Our router’s IP address changed at the end of september, now it is in a different range.
I’m not sure, but I think the problems started around that time.

You mentioned you have 2 Pi’s, if you stream on both of them, do they both stop at the same time?
(Also when playing different streams?)

It's most likely not moode software thats causing the problem. All moode tries to do is detect that a stream is having a particular type of issue and then restart MPD when that happens. It's a race condition in the restart process that was fixed for upcoming 9.1.3.

Pretty much 99.9% of the time streaming radio glitches are due to broadcaster or network issues.
Enjoy the Music!
