pi 3a+ strong enough?
#1
I tried installing v 9.13 on a 3a+.  I tried a couple of fresh installs and tried two "known good" cards.  It always ended up running for a few hours and then freezing up.  It's a bit difficult to post logs from a frozen pi but I could capture something before it freezes.

I don't think it's a network problem.  The signal strength is better than -45 dBm at the location and I have other network devices that run fine there including a pi 4 and pi5 running v 9.13.

This isn't a matter of life and death.  It's a hobbyist fooling around.  I have more pis than I need.  I'm retired and need to do something computer related.  I was interested in using this one mainly as an alarm, using the new doesn't have to be on the play list feature.  I can't rule out the pi being less than perfect because I had it in my living room system connected to my AVR via HDMI.  It sat on top of the AVR for several months. probably a warmer than optimum location.  OTOH, it runs PiCoreplayer reliably.  I've just loaded the 32 bit version of v. 8.3.9 and I'm currently waiting to see how long that lasts.

I have a 3A+ in the drawer. I'll let it run for a few days and see what happens.

I have a Pi 3A+ in our sunroom running moOde and connected via 5GHz WiFi to my LAN. A NAS on the LAN provides local music storage to this and other moOde players in the house.  I generally use an Apple iPad to access the webUI on all the players but sometimes my Google Pixel phone.

The 3A+ was updated to 9.1.3 as soon as it that release was announced and has been powered up 24/7 since (official RPi power supply). No "freezing" has been experienced here whenever I listen to music in the sunroom.

Regards,
Kent

I have 2x Pi 3A+ with V9.13 playing the whole day flac audio files in the highest quality from a Synology NAS. No freezing or dropouts here.

I always use Sandisk SD cards and an official power supply.

Kind regards,

Frank

I’m running 9.1.3 on a Zero 2W, which is lower spec than the 3A+.
It runs quite well, with Camilla DSP for correcting my headphones.

@nosferatu_cat Are you in the UK running on a VirginMedia Hub by any chance?

I've been running v 8.39 without a problem since yesterday.  I'm going to try a fresh install of 9.13 later today.  It keeps me out of trouble.  Smile

It isn't the "smart wifi" messing it up like I experienced then Smile

No issues with my 3A+ running since yesterday.

@nosferatu_cat maybe its a power supply issue?
