Hi!
I'm very confused with the tag management of MoOde, and i don't understand how to work o tweak it.
My library is well tagged, i have to fix some related to genre but, otherwise is perfectly matched with Musicbrainz Picard. I do it, and i know it works, because prior to move to MoOde and MPD I have make an intensive use of Navidrome and the Subsonic API. So, when i first connected the library to MoOde i was expecting everything will be well tagged and no.
My first surprise was that the album artists tag, was messed up. The composers and all the peole involved was in the tag. Ok, this is explained in the ui, so i change to album artist view and everything look well. But, when I select an album, in the interface, it deploys tracks and i continue to see everyone who was involved, with make the interface unresponsive and really uncomfrotable, as the box of some tracks are really huge. This has to be something i can fix. So, how can i choose the artist album tag in tracks to.
Althought, I don't want to see the publication of the edition date i just want to see the original date in year format, not day with month and year.
So, i need to understand how management tag works on MoOde. I found it really confusing.
I have another issue, but it is maybe normal, when I put the Plexamp renderer off and turn on again, i have to relogging. I it a little bit annoying, but i can live with this, if it is normal.
Thank you people, and congrats for this piece of work, it is really good software.

Couple things.
1. There is no standard for music tags, only widely accepted usage practices, and this is only for popular music, classical music tagging is entirely up to user preference. MusicBrainz has their own unique tagging practice.
2. Tag handling in moode has evolved over many years and is based on widely accepted usage practices and a lot of user input as to what works best for most people for example displaying Composers under the track title in the tracks list or having Artists include Artists, Performers and Conductors.
3. There is no standard for the "date" tag but moode expects the tag to contain YYYY or YYYYMMDD. Only the year portion is used when rendering the Library and the priority that determines which tag is used is below.
OriginalDate
OriginalReleaseDate
Date
4. Moode also supports a custom "Album date" string (because there is no Album date tag).
The string "AlbumDate: YYYYMM" at the beginning of the Comment tag can be used to add month to the Album year sort order for Tag and Album views.
Now some questions:
1. What model Pi?
2. What client?
3. Type of network?

First, i'm very thankfull for the answer ;0)
Then, i want to personnally thanks the develop of this piece software which i love and i will use very long time.
Now, I aware about what you say. Sorry i think my lack of knowledge in english, maybe, made my comment a little bit uncomprenhensive.
I only want to show just the album artist tag when you deploy the album tracks. The year tag, was an error of mine.
The way it show now, on my library, i found inconsistent. I have not think about tracks with more than one artist, sincerely. That's why it is nice to understand and know how to tweak it.
I'm using an
- RPi 5 - 8GB new. It has less than a week - with a iQaudiO DAC PRO (buy yesterday) and MoOde 9.1.4 (installed yesterday)
- Client, i suppose MPD client? I'm talking about the MoOde interface. When i use other clients, like Cantata or MAFA, i can edit the tags it show and how, and otherwise i think i must ask to cantata or MAFA team, isn't it?
- Network, i use both Wired and wireless, but I plan to used wired. I want to connect my MoOde DAC to my Yamaha Receiver, drop the Yamaha App, and use a better DAC.
I'm really happy and trying to understand how MPD works. I'm not complaining.
To make it visual, i want to see, only, Amyl and the Sniffers as artist, oon this shot: https://imgur.com/Du4GLBs
or, at least, choose what i see
Thank you.

For the one of the tracks in that album post a screen shot of "Audio info" which will show all the tags.

Ok, is the proposal to display the Album Artist in the track list instead of all the Artists providing the Prefs Library setting "Artists column" is set to "Album Artist"?
If thats the case then please zip up that album and PM me download link so I'l be able to run some tests.

Here's the option that controls which tag is used to populate the Artist column.
I did find an album of mine that has multiple artists in several of its tracks and I definately would want to see them listed because thats how the album was released. Just showing the album artist would have each track showing "Lee Ritenour" as the artist which is not correct.
Based on that I'm not seeing a good case for making a new option that controls what appears as the "artist" in the track list.

Hi, and thank you again.
I have checked my preferences and it is setup just like you. I mean artist column: Artist album.
I the other hand, i understand your point, but I feel i'm not able to explain mine.
I my case, we are not talking about a multiple artists tracks. it is a mess that mix up the name of the group, the name of individuals, and every info that musicbrainz has listed on my tracks. And, what, for me, is the worst, it is not consistent with one and other.
I can solve it, removing the info i don't want to see. I'm aware that the issue is on my library.
I assume that is the only way is retag everything. But i don't have this issue on Navidrome. it show album artist and, when it is a track with multiple artists, it show it, without showing all the other info. That was I was asking. Obviously, Navidrome is Navidrome and MoOde is MoOde.
Thanks, anyways, i have understand how MoOde manage tags. It puts all the info in all the tags related with artists in the artist track, mixed, and i have understand the only way to tweak: delete all the info i don't want to see. Which means i have to retag all my library, again. The issue is on my library which has too much info (for my needs, obviously) I understand most people like it, but i don't see the point to have all the artists of a group listed, alongside the name of the group, in a track tag view. whith a proper tag system, maybe, I can even like it, if i manage to make it consistent.
Thank you so much.
By my side, the issue can be closed.

Moode accumulates the Performer, Conductor and Artist into the Artist tag and displays these values as a comma separated list in the first line of each track in the track list. The Composer(s) if any are displayed on the second line.
What's a bit confusing to me is that your sample Album "Cartoon Darkness" only shows 1 artist tag in MusicBrainZ Picard.
