Hello everyone! I need help

Hello everyone!
I’m a passionate music lover and audiophile. I’ve been using Moode Audio for a long time and have tried many versions, but Moode 7 has always been my favorite. Unfortunately, my microSD card got corrupted, and I lost the image of this version.
I really appreciate deep soundstage and immersive audio, and my setup includes a Line Magnetic LM-216AI tube amplifier and Magnat Signature 1105 speakers. I enjoy a wide range of music, from Thom Yorke, Massive Attack, and James Blake to Tord Gustavsen and Agnes Obel.
If anyone here has a copy of Moode 7 img, I would be extremely grateful! Or maybe you know where I can find it?
Thanks a lot, and I’m happy to be part of this community!

Hi, and welcome aboard.
Just one thing... why 7? we're on 9 now; you should give it a go; there is a gazillion improvements and probably also new features ;-)

Hello! Thanks for your reply.

I've tested a ton of things—different tubes, NOS, various DACs, and even SD cards, which sound different in my system.

I had another amplifier before, and the sound was massive, huge. Back then, I was using Moode 7.

Then my amplifier broke, I replaced it, and my SD card failed as well. Now I have a different type of tubes… I’m waiting for the same ones I had before, but the scale of the sound is gone. There's accuracy, but that super depth and height are missing.

While I’m waiting for the tubes to be delivered, I wanted to compare Moode releases because versions 8 and 9 sound very different. I still don’t fully understand how to reduce the excessive high-frequency component in Moode 9. Some say you need to increase the memory allocation for Moode on the Raspberry Pi, but I haven't figured out how to do that yet.

Of course, I’d love to achieve the perfect sound.

I’m using SoX with the "Very High" setting. I also have a Pi2AES HAT.

I am sorry I fail to understand you...
moOde is a player, it has no effect on the sound, unless you apply some DSP (through CamillaDSP I mean, so there is no difference at all between v7, or 8, or 9...
The sound is in your (still missing...?) tubes; not moOde itself. Try the 9. Such an old version as the 7 would need you to manually build it, on an older (unsupported...?) OS...

@Vadimdecember Generally speaking relying on hearing or sound memory is very unreliable because of all the builtin human biases and what the mind does with them.

In any case I'm curious as to why you are using SoX resampling. Is to fix a specific problem with the audio device?
Resampling is a form of DSP that alters the audio signal.

Hi Vadim,
given that I completely agree with Al and Tim, which version would you like (7.x - 32 or 64 bits)?
Best regards,
Francesco

Hello everyone.
I need a 64-bit version for testing.

I can provide feedback about SOX. I can only speak for the sound on my system—when I enable SOX in "very high" mode, the improvement in the 3D soundstage is colossal. The result is a fully holographic sound experience.

My issue is that versions 7, 8, and 9 sound completely different in this configuration. The latest versions have started to produce a drier and less spacious sound. Version 9, in particular, sounds too bright for my taste.

Once again, I understand that audio perception is a very delicate matter. But I conduct dedicated listening sessions at home with different devices, and we (a group of three people) carefully evaluate every element, paying close attention to what affects the sound. I speak only from my personal experience. Yes, I agree that the tubes could have played a significant role. However, I want to eliminate hardware influence and conduct a proper test.

Another major factor is the SD card. I haven’t yet found the perfect-sounding one. So far, in my ranking of 10 different cards, the Samsung EVO series is the winner.
This means that even the SD card where Moode is installed affects the sound.

It means you believe that the SD card makes a difference certainly; what though is your hypothesis for how the storage medium of the software can affect the sound from your speakers?

I don't have a theory, I have practice. Take two SD cards from different brands, install the same software (Moode) on both, and listen to the same tracks.

Thread should be more of a simple introduction and not a sound quality discussion. Best to close it.

- If you want to see if anyone has an old image then post a thread in the Support sub-forum.
- If you want to post opinions or experiences with sound quality then post a thread in the Sound Quality sub-forum.
Enjoy the Music!
