It sounds like a YMMV situation. If I were getting this device I'd make sure that the seller has a no-cost, unconditional return policy.

Supported operating systems
The USB connection with this unit is for PCs with the following operating systems: (As of August, 2021)
Windows: Windows 10 (32 bit/64 bit)
Mac: macOS 11 / 10.15 / 10.14 / 10.13 / 10.12
Notes
• Operations with other operating systems are not guaranteed.
• Operations may be disabled even with the above-mentioned
operating systems, depending on the configuration or
environment of the PC.
• If the unit is connected to a Mac computer, the unit will usually
operate using the driver included in the standard Mac OS. However, if the unit fails to play music files stored on the connected computer, install the driver for Mac by accessing the URL listed in Step 1 of the following “Installing the dedicated driver” section.
