Instruction Guide Finding the right driver for a InnoMaker Hifi Dac
#1
Hello,

I bought a (second hand) Hifi Dac by InnoMaker (as I need it for a sound installation). It took me a long time to find the right driver within the list of I2S devices with strange results sometimes :

No sound if Hifi Dac is chosen
Sound with the Hifi Dac+ but as it was played twice the speed ! (the same with Audiophonics PCM5122)
With some others (I don't remember which ones now) the sound was damaged.

Finally, it works well in choosing Allo MiniBoss Dac... my question is : why ?  Huh

What driver does the manufacturer specify?

The Allo Boss overlay is recommended by Innomaker for this dac. See HiFi Dac HAT

Basically, they use the same DAC chip (TI PCM 1522) and, apparently, the same interface.

Their docs explicitly mention playing back at double speed with wrong choice of driver, for example, the HiFi Berry driver.

Similar nonsense applies to their HiFi Dac Pro, which plays fine in my system using their recommended Allo Katana driver.

In the moOde I2S list the Boss and MiniBoss entries map to the same driver.

Wow, On days when I am very busy and have a limited time to devote to listening this could be great!
How wonderful of the manufacturer to think of all possibilities.

Hello, thank you all. I visited the page mentioned above but I was probably too tired and had not seen the screenshots at the bottom showing which driver has to be chosen. Sorry for that.

I’m glad to use Moode to play one long track permanently for days, track which will listened with headphones by the visitors. I prefer that solution instead of using a python script or even a Pure Data patch under RaspiOS.
