Sonos Roam Bluetooth Pairing
#11
@feh123

In the following, I've broken your post into parts,

Quote:A question under Bluetooth control do you set the pairing agent on?

Yes, but this feature applies to pairing from another device (the Bluetooth source) to moOde (the Bluetooth sink). In the case of the Sonos Roam, we're using moOde as the Bluetooth source and the Roam as the Bluetooth sink. The Pairing agent setting shouldn't matter.

Quote:I need to turn off HDMI to get Spotify to work

Does this mean you have to turn off the HDMI port in moOde's system settings? What Spotify app are you trying to connect to the moOde Spotify Renderer and what does "to work" mean?

Just now testing with moOde 8.2.4 on an RPi3A+, I can connect to the moOde Spotify Renderer and play tracks from the Spotify app on my iPad or on my Pixel 6a phone; I can also connect and play from the Spotify web player (e.g., from within my Chromium/Firefox browsers) on my Linux Mint laptop. This with the HDMI port enabled in moOde.

Quote:...and I still have issues with the sound output. I have this set to Software but to use Spotify with output to Moode Spotify I have to check my laptop audio is set high otherwise although I have a controller for the audio output (it's a Naim amp) that does not work.

Sorry, I don't understand what you are saying here.

Regards,
Kent

Hi Apologies for my wandering flow of info! Thanks for the explanation re Bluetooth pair.
Re the HDMI I use a Spotify app on my iPad or iPhone and connect to Moode Spotify to play music via a HifiBerry digi+Pro RCA output to a Naim. This did not work. When I switched off the HDMI on the Moode it worked. However given your experience maybe it’s do with the sound issue I had from the start.

The sound issue - I am sure on 8.2.3 and all earlier versions I set the Hifiberry device and Software as audio level controller. I could ignore the audio circle controller on the radio page when playing radio stations - it was not active. With 8.2.4 I find it is active and on choosing Software now I need to set this to 100 to get full sound. This still surprises me - I have never used the circle to set the sound before.

I have had some progress with the Roam. With my current settings I can see the Roam when I scan in the Moode Bluetooth Controller and it is also seen in List Trusted. To pair I set the Roam to pair and hit pair on the Moode. Now however the UI freezes with the browser tab (Firefox) indicating it’s working and the Reconnect screen present. If I just leave it the Roam soon stops trying to pair. But the UI is stuck on Reconnect. If I hit reconnect or close the browser tab then I find I cannot connect to the UI and have to restart by switching the RPI3+ off and on. Something quite major happens with pairing to the Roam! I will keep testing and try to get a log file. Thanks for all your help! Fred
