Yes, right.

Oh, yeah, Balena Etcher still works to flash any image to any uSD card. It's just that it's not enough to get current RaspiOS configured the way we did before.

See my post HowTo: install moOde without using the RPi Imager tool and decide for yourself if you want to be a manly hacker or just use the RPi Imager Tool and be done with it.

Regards,
Kent

PS - note that my post doesn't show how to predefine a WiFi connection. Yet another reason to like the RPi Imager Tool.

I'm agnostic about the tool.

just wish I could get a couple of hours of my life back.

Maybe do a little reading to help keep current with whats happening. Of course it's human nature not to do this but the Pi space is fast moving and constantly changing and improving. A lot can happen in a couple of months.

We have posted many release announcements, Forum threads, posts in the diyAudio Forum and our social sites over the past year (since March 2023) that communicated to our users the improvements in the security of our release images and the need to use the Raspberry Pi Imager to prep the image.

The security improvements are a big benefit to everyone that uses moOde and the Pi Imager actually makes it much easier and faster to setup WiFi. There's no longer a need for the slow process of booting up in AP mode just to setup WiFi.

Definitely caught me off guard. Had just been following the same old process. It's a good thing that it just works and I didn't feel the need to check in. Live and learn for the next time things go sideways.

I appreciate all the effort you guys put into the product!
