Unable to use NAS as a music library

An easy command to list the shares being published by your Fritzbox or any other Samba server on your LAN

Code:
smbclient -N -L <server identifiier>

where <server identifier> is replaced by the server's IP address (something like 192.168.0.1, or such), mDNS hostname (something like fritz.local), or (usually  its DNS hostname.

Example, here's a look at an OpenMediaVault server on my LAN which has SMB file sharing enabled

Code:
rho@bluemoode:~ $ smbclient -N -L omv1.local

    Sharename       Type      Comment
    ---------       ----      -------
    Music           Disk
    Music1          Disk
IPC$            IPC       IPC Service (omv1 server)
SMB1 disabled -- no workgroup available

Kent

Kent, that's very kind but I don't know where to run that command from
However , if that's what it's about the nas and the music folder on it are now visible from moode
What is not working is the scan: I launch the folder update and only very few folders come up - 3 to be precise, 2 of which have a 3 or 4 subfolders as in my library each artist is a folder and each album by that artist is a subfolder.
overall, my library contains over 1000 artist folders and about 3500 album subfolders
the update via ethernet earlier on had given me a few more folders, in case that's relevant
the busy wheel keeps spinning even when moode really has stopped scanning (I take that from the fact that if I update the folder, the update will start as opposed to getting the "update already in progress" popup)
