It is version 6.5.2 (2020-05-03)

I have none for I2S device. Local UI display is OFF. Saved settings. Powered off rpi4.

1. USB cable connected between RPI4 and FX DAC
2. FX DAC powered on, source is USB
3. Power on the Rpi4
4. Launch Moode from ipad safari
5. Go to Edit MPD config devices, only shows onboard audio in drop down menu

I receive this info for the FX DAC:

Needs driver compatible with savi bravo sa9927 that is the USB input receiver used in the DAC.

Is this something common that will work with current Moode?

I understand there is another issue between touch screen and DAC USB detect
that is fixed in next release.

No touch screen on, the Moode would detect this DAC?

Hi, can you post the full reply from FX DAC as there doesn't seem to be any hits for a savi bravo sa9927.

I am assuming they mean Savitech but the 9927 returns nothing.
(there is a Savitech BRAVO-DSD SA9226 and a 9027)

Hi Bob,

Here is all I got:

He said the Raspberry Pi is an open source Linux device.  Therefore your issue is a software only issue and not a USB issue with the Black Ice. It uses a standard USB input. You would need to find a driver compatible with savi bravo sa9927 that is the USB input receiver used in the DAC.

I just formatted the sd card and put a new clean 6.6.0 Moode on it. Only thing I set was SSID and password. Then I went to
edit MPD config device. Only onboard audio shows up. 
It works with Windows 10, detects and installs drivers right away. I hope this will work with Moode. 

It must be a typo. I will confirm. The link they provided for the drivers:

The manual specs also shows:
PCM 1795 TI (Burr-Brown) DAC IC/DSD support       
SA9227 USB IC DSD Support

Oddly, the same website with one of their products says:

It works without drivers in Mac, Linux, and requires drivers to be installed in Windows.

USB should be plug and play and this is not an unusual receiver...


If you go to the System Config tab and set the the fix for UAC2 to on this may be all that is needed (UAC2 Fix is from memory as I am not currently in front of my Moode device   so may be called 'something like that'...)

From the moOde help popup for for the USB (UAC2) fix: "Try this fix if experiencing audio glitches with USB High Speed (UAC2) audio devices."

From a SA9227 data sheet I found online:

• USB 2.0 High Speed Compliant
  
• USB Audio Class v1.0 and v2.0 Supported
  

Seems like it should be close to working.

I have to run now. I'll post some more thoughts latter if no one beats me to them.

USB Audio devices are supported by a single, universal driver in Linux plus a kernel "quirks" configuration file that contains all the specific settings and parameters for various USB Audio chipsets.

If a USB Audio device fails to show up in the output of the command below it could be due to a hardware or power issue or that its not compatible with Linux USB Audio driver / quirks config.

ETA: the UAC2 fix was an old hack to help eliminate audio glitches that were the result of bugs in the Linux USB Audio driver. I don't think its even needed anymore.

Thanks for everyone’s help, very much appreciated. :-)

The UAC2 fix did not help either. Since the DAC works on Windows 10,
there is not much else so I took last ditch effort. I removed the stock
cable and tried a higher quality 10’ USB cable. That seems to have fixed it.
It detects and I’m able to play from Moode to DAC now. I have a monoprice
USB cable coming soon.

There was some weird mpd decode error so I cleared, regenerate, reset.

When do you use RESTART MPD and what is it used for?

Can I plug in the HDMI touch screen after boot up to test as a temporary work around?
I’m getting the touch screen today. So with version 6.6.0, if I turn on local UI, will it break the USB DAC connection?
