.....used same....pi and moodeaudio
They seemed to be the obvious choice of 'credentials'........??
Hmm,
I kindly ask you IF YOU CAN TRY to use root / moodeaudio. Not what you have done, or think it is obvious.
Hi Al....perhaps I'm giving the wrong impression here!
When initially asked to put in credentials...yesterday....I used pi/moodeaudio because that was all I had.
So....I'm to use root/moodeaudio as user/password combination....right, I get that now.
Problem now is.....that I'm not being offerred the chance to input new credentials as you've suggested.
How can I make the PC forget credentials...and ask me for new ones?
Remove the share - possibly reboot Windows - and do it again from scratch.
Other than this I have no idea.

Thanks Al
Spotted how to Map a network drive with new credentials....but still the same problem, the drive I've setup is write protected.
I've posted on Microsoft forum....perhaps they'll have an idea??
We'll see.

Revisited this with a cool head this morning!
Did as Al suggested.....removed/deleted shares...and started again.
Added 1st drive (Z: ).....an nvme type.....and Bingo.....can read/write/edit
Then....Added drives 2 and 3 (Y: and X: ).....and back to yesterday's position...can't write to 'em both.
Right clicking to properties, suggests that all 3 drives have same permissions.
All drives similarly formatted to NTFS.
Used same credentials (root/moodeaudio) when mapping the drives....
Any thought on what I might try next please?

This is all on Microsoft.
I have no problem executing read/wrie/create/delete actions on the shares offered by my moOde players whether I’m accessing them from using any of my various Linux-based systems or my virtual Win10 Pro system.
Of course my Win10 system now has these shares marked with guest credentials and nothing I’ve found in Internet searches seems to work to make it forget (either from UI or command line). This means I can’t even repro your issue.
Sorry, but I’m not a Microsoft Windows maven so I’m out.
Regards,
Kent
PS - I suppose one could diddle with the SMB configuration in moOdeOS to allow user “pi” (or whatever is the default) to have administrative permissions. That’s pretty brutal and I wouldn’t want to make it a user selectable option.

Dunno how hopeful I should be here...MS haven't yet got back to me on my earlier query.

Asked question on Microsoft Answers
"I have 3 network drives.....Win11 can only write to one of them...other two are 'protected'....???"
......also described how the Pi is networked....including ref. to Samba connection
Got this reply :
"I say that in the SMB config line it is configured this way:
path = / shared_folder
comment = File Server
available = yes
browseable = yes
public = yes
writable = yes
Independent Advisor - Community "
.....I don't think that I've used the smb config line yet....or have I ????

All the music SMB shares published by moOde are set "read only = no" and "guest ok = yes". They're all set "browseable", ..
According to the current SAMBA documentation
- "read-only = no" means the same as setting them as "writable = yes"
- The older "public" option was vague and is now a synonym for "guest ok"
Sadly, then, the reply you got is correct but irrelevant.
Had the respondent been more astute, they might have asked why the three shares were seen differently.
The question at hand remains, how do you make Win10 (or whatever release you have) forget previous used credentials for SMB shares. So far, nothing I've found in Internet searches has correctly answered that question, although there's a lot of seemingly authoritative answers that don't seem to have worked for the person who asked the question. Maybe you'll have better luck.

Kent

Exactly....went to great lengths during the conversation, to suggest that that was the question to be addressed.
There is a win11 credentials manager.....suppose that might be a place to start?
Thanks

You can try. The share credentials don't show up in my Win10 Credential Manager.
