I came across this site recently and found this thread; it is time to give this software a try using Tim's ingredients, will see how it goes. Thanks Tim!

OMG, the Infocast. I liked it so much bought two and was one of the many folks actively hacking it on our way to develop custom firmware based on FOSS software. I loved that bit of kit but it taught me never again to buy into a closed ecosystem. IMO, the Facebook Portal is a modern-day equivalent. Fabulous screen resolution, actually not bad on-board audio, and promising processing power. No surprise to me but apparently a surprise to those who drank the KoolAid, Facebook turned it back on the Portal after it proved not to be an ongoing revenue generator. Yet another tech doorstop.

Hope you enjoy moOde!

I hadn't heard of the Facebook Portal, but the demise of the device sounds similar. My Infocast still sits on my bedroom headboard, telling time. As for your role in helping to make the software migration possible; thank you for your service.

Unfortunately, I will be unavailable (vacation) to work with moOde and the new streamer until after the 10th of next month. See you later!

10" WIMAXIT IPS display $77

Pi-5 $69

Active cooler $8

Power supply $20

A high quality stereo DAC (IQaudIO DAC Pro) $25

I found that this build needed a few more ingredients; when I originally tried assembling everything, the bottom of the DAC board was coming into contact with the RPi5 heat sink fins. So, I bought a few things from Amazon:

2 Geekworm for Raspberry Pi 4 Case, Universal HAT Size Pi Case DIY Kit,

Geekworm 2x20 40 Pin Stacking Female Header Kit for Raspberry Pi

Geekworm for Raspberry Pi Installation Tool Hex Brass Spacer/Standoffs Accessories Kit
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0756CW6Y2?ref...asin_title

While troubleshooting, I bought a used Raspberry 4B 4GB with passive heat sinks and power supply for $36, and made a headless "Moodule" (which has been trouble free!), so I had to buy another IQ Audio DAC Pro. The cases fit rather well after I lopped off the excess plastic on top of the DAC audio output jacks. I will try adding pics after I get the screen stabilized.
