Thanks for the fast response. I should have added more detail - I only mentioned the network in passing so my description was rather poor.
My Netgear D7000 has wifi switched off so only supplies wired internet. It is wired to a Netgear Orbi mesh system (in AP mode). This supplies both wired and wifi internet to the majority of my devices.
I have a lot of devices thanks to my use of many RPIs. To help I also use powerlines and the MoOde RPI is wired to the Netgear D7000 via a Netgear powerline 1200.
I have tried using the RPI wifi to connect the network - but I still saw the same error when trying to play the radio.
The RPI is on a static IP address set within the D7000. I have tried DHCP too.
The NAS is also wired directly to the D7000 and is also on a static IP address.
The NAIM (UnitiQute 2) is not connected to the network - I have a Hifiberry Digi+Pro HAT on the RPI and the NAIM just takes the digital output.
This network has always worked without a problem.
Cannot connect to server did sound like a network issue but I cannot find anything wrong.
Hold on ... You're saying that the RPi is connected by LAN cable to the a Netgear router set up in MODEM-mode... can you describe the rest of your set-up: other router, any other device requiring Internet connection (laptop, PC, tablet) and how are they and where are they connected...?
Where are the NAS and the streamer connected?

I have just installed 5.3.1 on a RPI 3 connected to a WDMyCloud NAS and a Naim streamer. The system plays my music very well.
However, and after searching for solutions online, I cannot get any of the radio stations to play. I get the same on screen error message "curl failed to decode: [radio station ip address] unable to connect to server.
For info I use a Netgear router in modem only mode (it does the DHCP) and the RPI is wired to this router..............snip.....................
