No 'noise or popping' but I have never had those problems even with older Pi and MoOde via usb :-)
What I do find is the Pi4 is much more responsive and stable especially when streaming .
I bought the 4GB Pi4 as I have other projects that will require the extra ram... such as a ram-play experiment and trialling the HiFiBerry ADC to rip LPs .
Easier and more cost effective to get the extra ram now than find I need it later and have to buy yet another Pi...
That said, I am buying up Pi2Bs as people discard them for Pi3 and 4.... a Pi2B is a solid performer if you don't need wifi and runs super cool. ;-)
